I am trying to find out if anyone has any information about my great great great grandfathers antiques business called Reedman & Son. It used to be at 45 Broad Street, Stamford and so far have traced the business back as far as 1861 and the latest 1919. If anyone knows anything about it please let me know. Thanks
Kate: Can anyone help Paul with his research?

Hi Don

I'm  hoping you may be able to help me with my research into the Reedman's of Southorpe. I'm related to both William Reedman born 1850 and John Reedman born 1818 both in Southorpe. If you know anything about them or they are in your tree please get in touch. Thanks very much in advance!

Hello Paul,Don and Catrin, I also am interested in the Reedman side of my family. My paternal line is of course Adams. My maternal line is GRESSWELL, a name which mainly occurs around the Lincolnshire area. One line from the Gresswell side has taken me back to Emma REEDMAN (maiden name as yet unknown),who was born in Barnack,Northampton, in 1829.She had children David,Alfred and ADA and maybe Isaac (I suspect that Isaac Reedman may have been a relative living with them).
ADA, born in C1869 and died in January 1946, married Thomas Gresswell who was born in Aslackby in about 1861. It seems that the Reedman and Gresswell tribes came from the areas of Southorpe,Barnack, Aslackby, Stamford. Have more info if you require it.
Chris.

My maternal Gt.Gt. Grandmother was Emma REEDMAN born Barnack in 1829. As yet I don`t know which REEDMAN she married or her maiden name. 1881 census shows her to be a widow with family David, Alfred, Ada and Isaac(poss. not a son but a relative).
Ada married a baker, Thomas Gresswell of Aslackby/Folkingham.They were living in Stamford when they had Alfred Reedman Gresswell and Percy "George" Gresswell. If Emma comes up in your searches perhaps you would let me know.

Hi Catrin,
My maternal Gt.Gt.grandmother was Emma REEDMAN (maiden name as yet unknown) born Barnack in 1829.By 1881 she was in Southorpe as a widow and living with her was David, Alfred and Ada (C1869-Jan 1946) and a possible relative Isaac born C1855. Ada Reedman was my gt.grandmother who married into another local clan called Gresswell. If you have come across Emma or the others feel free to contact me. The Reedmans and Gresswells seem to have had their roots in the Southorpe/Barnack/Stamford/Aslackby/Folkingham/Grantham areas, which I visited a couple of weeks ago.Stunning.
Chris.

Hi Chris. Was just wondering if you have any info on John Reedman b 1840 in Southorpe married to Ellen and had 5 kids; Henry, Amy, Fred, Arthur and Walter. Later in life he moved to Airmyn and later Skelton in east Yorkshire which is 5 minutes from where I am and have been trying to do research on him with little success. All I know from the 1901 census is that he was a gamekeeper for the Scholfield family of Skelton. Any more info would be much appreciated.

Hi Paul,
This thread is a few years old, but I have some info on the John Reedman you speak of. In fact, he's my great grandfather. Only two of John Reedman's offspring had children. His son Fred (1880-1953) is my grandfather, who emigrated to Welland, Ontario Canada in 1904. Fred had one son, Eric Reedman (1910-1980) who is my father. My grandfather's brother Henry had two children, Dorothy (who never married) and a son, Wilfred, who had a son named Michael. I believe Michael has two daughters.
