Does anyone know if you can purchase birth, marraige and death certificates from the Stamford office circa 1850-1900 or can you only get them from the GRO.
Kate:  Anyone have first hand info for Paul?

Paul, I recently obtained a death certificate of a relative who passed away in January 1972 from Stamford Registry Office. When the Registrar got the books out there were many other very old looking ones in the cabinet so they may have them dating back to 1850 - 1900. I would suggest phoning Stamford Town Hall who can give you a good number to call. The Town Hall and Council Offices number can be obtained through directory enquires. Let me know if I can help further here. Andy.
