Ancestor Gateway Forum - GREAT WAR GATEWAY New Topic  |  Search Thread Topic: Last Post by Max Arthur Topic Originator: Kate Post Date November 10, 2005 @ 5:17 AM  Last Post by Max Arthur Kate November 10, 2005 @ 5:17 AM Reply  |  Email  |  Print  |  Top An informative book called Last Post by Max Arthur was recently published and a party was held at the National Army Museum in London to mark its publication.  The book is a collection of personal accounts from the witnesses who are the remaining survivors of the conflict.  When Max Arthur began the research for his book, he interviewed 21 participants  but the number of those he interviewed since he began in mid 2004 has now dwindled to 8.  There are 11 known survivors, 9 of these live in Britain and 2 in Australia. Bill Stone aged 105 and Henry Allingham from Eastbourne aged 109, were guests of honour at the party.
