Reference Mike's list.
I have Soldiers Died in the Great War for -
Lincs Regt
Leics Regt
Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys Regt)
RAMC - Royal Army Medical Corps.
RE - Royal Engineers
If anyone has a man on the Woolsthorpe Memorial, the extra info would gibe -
for example -
Walter WING - 11th Battalion, Notts & Derbys - born - Woodthorpe, Lincs,
enlisted - Mansfield Derbys, (abode Grantham Lincs) 16487, L/Cpl, k in a, F
& F, 23/12/16 (should it be Woolsthorpe? probably)
(F & F - France and Flanders. k in a - Killed in Action. It normally gives
k in a, d of w - Died of wounds or died).
Herbert Wright WING - 7th Lincs.
born Woolsthorpe, Lincs, enlisted - Grantham (abode - Woolsthorpe Lincs),
12625, L/Cpl, d of w, F & F, 27/4/16.
Sadly I do not have the South Devons but obviously the WING's were related
and possibly brothers.
The PACEY's likewise. Ernest was a regular killed 1/11/1914.
Also Thomas killed 21/8/15.
John Holland PACEY - died (probably Flu) - 14/5/18
Richard d of w 12/10/17, Military Medal
William Edward Ernest PACEY was actually in the 7th Leicester's.
The 1/5th Leicesters have a Frank PACEY from Woolsthorpe (but not 4th).
Frank is not on the Woolsthorpe Memorial.
Regards
Steve
