My son. In his allotment. dug up a high quality engineering brick stamped Tirners of Stamford.I wondered if it rang a bell with anyone? I believe that, in the 19th century there was a Brickmakers in New Street whose excavations account for the difference in height between New Street and the eastern end of New Cross Road

The majority of Turner bricks that come to light are the buff coloured ones and are quite soft and crumble easy, one noticeble thing with this version of Turner brick is that the N is back to front and I have never seen one the correct way round, by the way I have never seen a Turner engineering brick possible quite rare as bricks go, I was always under the impression that Turners were one of the previous operators of the brickyard up Little Casterton road, but could be wrong and Patrick could be right with it being at the top of New Road.
