The Foundation Office at the Stamford Endowed Schools is in the process of creating an on-line archive of old photographs for its alumni.  Some sets may also be of interest to Stamford residents and local historians.  See for example

More photographs can be made available if there is sufficient interest.

What great pictures.   Having spent many many summers at the Boys' Outdoor pool (now sadly no more I believe) it is lovely to see the playing fields as they once were.   Also a friend of mine's father was the House Master at Northfields and I remember sewing sessions in the Boys' dining room, sleep overs in the dormatories and afternoons spent in the Sick Room which was where all the mattresses were stored in the holidays.  A room filled almost to the ceiling with mattresses!    In 1968 a disco was held there for German students who had been staying with families in Stamford.  It was for their last night and I still remember the theme - "Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.   I was too young to attend but was there during the day when the room was being decorated.

It was SUCH a shame that Northfields House was demolished.  I did visit when it was half demolished and it was very sad to see this lovely house that held so many happy memories in this very sad state.

The aerial pictures of the High School are lovely to look at too - so thanks for the link.

A full set of pictures of Northfields House - again thanks for the link.  Fascinating little bit of information about when it was built and who lived there too.

As I said in my post above, such a shame it was demolished and replaced with modern boxes.
