One for the oldies!
Does anyone remember a newspaper in Stamford in the 1930s? I think it was called the Stamford and District News and was published on Tuesday evenings. I believe the editor wsa Mr Burbidge who lived in Alexandra Road. It was never much of a competitor to the Mercury and I think it closed in 1939 when the war started. I wonder if there is still a copy anywhere.

There's an advert in a late 1920s/early 1930s Stamford Guide for the "Stamford and Rutland News" which had offices in Silver Lane. No advert in the 1936 Guide though.

Have to amend the above post. The "Stamford and Rutland News" was still being advertised in the 1936 Stamford Guide
