The Coronation was 60 years ago this week. I was 5 years old, and my family lived in Stamford at the time. There were only 1 million TV sets but the BBC estimated 20 million watched. So, that means many of us would have visited the homes of those lucky enough to have a set. I went with my parents to the house of Mr Nalson, the butcher in Maiden Lane. We had a jolly time, I remember. Does anyone remember Nalson's the Butchers (or was it 'Nelson's'?) or where they watched in Stamford on June 2 1953?

Yes remember Nalson's, One of his employees, Geoff Dartnell lived next door to us for a few years around 1960.

It was odd having both a Nelson's and a Nalson's butchers, no doubt more than one person went to the wrong shop.
