In the 1950's we lived above Fancourt's and regularly shopped downstairs. Fine pork pies by Ken (?) Fancourt. The delicious smells were always present. I became friends with Michael, his son, and his older sister who's name I have forgotten ( was it Janice ? ). Fond memories of chumming around with Michael and getting into all sorts of mischief. We used to play down in the meadows near the mill when, if I remember correctly, the mill wheel was still operating. Also eating wild gooseberrys till ill and disturbing a bee's nest.
I believe Michael may have opened his own shop somewhere and I would like to contact him. Any information much appreciated.
Thanks....

I also remember Fancourts well they made a wonderful haslet too. I went to the high school with the daughter who was named Barbara although I didn't know her well, I also remember Mrs fancourt who was very elegant. Wonderful shop.

Fancourt's Pork Butchers was a lovely shop, sent on an errand I once asked for beef in there! They couldn't have been nicer, I was only about ten at the time. Barbara became a friend at the High School where we were in the same form.
