Greetings,

With the centenary of WW1 fast approaching, it dawned on me whilst watching the 70th D-Day Commemorations on June 6th that whilst no veterans remain from the first world war, many Stamford veterans might still be alive and/or their families/ children who have information on them.

As with my research on Stamford School and WW1 I would be very grateful to hear from anyone who has a connection with the names of the men commemorated in the chapel at Stamford School. My plan in the next few months is to first make available my WW1 research and then subsequently my WW2 research, with biographies and photographs where possible on the men of Stamford School who served and died in both world wars.

Hi Nick, I recently had the privilege of opening the WW1 exhibition in the gallery of Stamford s Arts Centre. This was organised by the Stamford and District Local History Society. The Stamford School boys were all detailed and their local decendants traced and listed. Perhaps you attended this exhibition? If not may I suggest you contact the Chairman of this Society Mr Chris Davis. If you would like to contact him send a posting to the forum and I will give you his address He may be able to help you with your research. Kind Regards

My Mother in Law is the sister of Graham Lancelot Dudley Machin. She has given me a box of photos , books and belongings for my boys (his great nephews) and we are going to do some research but just starting out. I think it is the same, an unusual enough name.

Hi Elaine. That name is definitely on Nick's list.  Perhaps you would email him

Thanks for that.  Kate

Hi

I'm the niece of A. G Boam, known as Bill. He was my father's brother and today I've been to visit his grave at Chievres in Belgium. I don't know if you're still doing your research. If so please feel free to get in touch. Anne
