Are there still many members around of what was The Stamford Young Players? I was a founder member in 1948. We made our debut in A. A. Milne's "The man in the bowler hat". The Cast included: Colin Dexter, Shirley Allen, Jean Hazel, Alan Fields, Anthony Oglesby, Bill Lack and myself. The play was produced by Margaret Fairman.

Presumably this was a different society from Stamford Players (which often used to be referred to as Stamford Young Players) which in turn became Stamford Pantomime Players. The Pantomime Players was originally a youth group (Under 21s - which explains why they were sometimes called Stamford YOUNG Players) but eventually people of all ages were permitted to be in their productions.
The Pantomime Players celebrated a diamond jubilee in 2012 so that suggests the official year of that society's birth was 1952.
