Does anyone have memories of "The Lantern" restaurant? It was above Mac Fisheries in the High Street. The entrance was to the left of Mac Fisheries, and you went up a very steep flight of stairs, there was a dining room at the front over looking the High Street, and a smaller room at the rear. Between was the kitchen. I remember well eating there often with my Mum, on the weekly visit to Stamford. It was a type of restaurant that almost does not exist today, a roast option, desserts, tea or whatever. I remember it so well.

I remember the Lantern being above MacFisheries, but never went inside

I remember it although it wasn't a place I went to very often.   It always stank of cooking but then again given the type of place it was that would be about right.   It was quite big so I wonder what the space is used for now, as a store room for whichever shop took Macfisheries space I guess.
