My grandmother, Mrs Emily Maud Dell (nee Tansley) , ran The Little Shoe Shop in St. John's Street Stamford.  As St John's Street was then the A1 (!!!) can you believe!  The Shop was always taking a "hit" from the lorries swinging round to negotiate the corners.  The shop front was continually in trouble.  So my grandmother moved premises and The Little Shoe Shop setup in what is now Hillyers in St George's Street, next to The Bourne Laundry.  My grandfather  was George Thomas Dell an Engineer  from Derby.
