James Kudlinski  posted a message to the Forum and also told us that one of his ancestors Arthur Laughton was a founder member of the town silver band.
Does anyone else have things to tell us about the Band?  Who the members were, where they met?  What type of music they played? Did you have a friend or ancestor who played in the town band?  Let us know.

The band was in existence at the time of the boer war as my grandmother (Arthur Laughton's daughter) told me that the band used to play at the great northern station for soldiers leaving for and returning from the boer war. She also said that the band's first uniform was old army dress uniform from around this time.
Kate: Thanks very much James.  Memories are very  valuable as they can also contain memories of the things our ancestors told us. Anyone else have memories about the Town Band? Do you remember being at an occasion when they played for a special event?
