My ancestors were John Scotney and Elizabeth nee Strickland born mid  1700s.Children  Benjamin ,sara,James,all born in the 1770s.Any links would be appreciated. Was it Kings Cliffe? I ask this as my Mother was a Scotney and came from Kings Cliffe. I have researched this Scotney family and may be able to help you. There was also a family of Scotney's in Stamford who were in the antique trade could that perhaps be your family? So sorry for this very late response. Ruth March 27, 2014 @ 10:06 PM Reply  |  Email  |  Print  |  Top I am sure you have sorted this by now but I just came across the Guilder, Furnishings and Antique Scotneys in the 1911 census (the family was still in Stamford in the 1950s).  Anyway, in case you haven't got: 1911 census (7/ 19419) 2 St Mary's Hill Stamford (just as you turn the corner from Wharf Road I guess?): James Woodcock Scotney (abt 1875); Elizabeth (spouse) (abt 1875) and Alfred James Woodcock Scotney (abt 1908).
