Kate: You may be back from your break by now. Happy New Year to you and yours. I hope you managed to get up to Stamford - though I think the time when you were expecting to visit was very rainy and blowy -hope that didn't put you off. Lou: Yes, my wife and I DID manage to squeeze in a day trip to Stamford. My wife told me that the town was "just the right size." She enjoyed the street market and took several photographs. For anyone who is interested in the town of Stamford, Walker Books in Stamford is having a sale on "Stamford" by George Keeping. ISBN 1- 84589-026-4. It is a loving look at the town's history and includes many photographs from the 1920s and mid-1950s. Its weakness is that it does not contain, for family historians, much in the way of names of individuals or families. Lou |
